A mysterious European model chanteuse with a deep voice, Nico s solo 1967 debut Chelsea Girl was released mere months after the groundbreaking The Velvet Underground & Nico album. Titled after Andy Warhol s experimental 1966 film of the same name, the dark orchestral folk-pop affair features playing and songwriting assistance from the Velvet Underground s Lou Reed, John Cale and Sterling Morrison as well as a then unknown Jackson Browne who was dating Nico at the time. Home to the definitive version of Browne s These Days, as well as standouts like the title cut and Tim Hardin s Eulogy To Lenny Bruce. Bob Dylan s I ll Keep It With Mine also appears here.Â
